About the spot

The Sparrowhawk sits on the corner of Westow Hill and Westow Street, right at the top of the Triangle. Big windows, good food and a wine list that takes itself seriously make it the place to start a Palace day before the walk down to Selhurst.

Corner pub at the top of the Crystal Palace Triangle. Walking distance down the hill to Selhurst Park. Brunch, sharing plates and proper Sunday roasts. Craft beer on tap and a wide-ranging wine list. Light, airy room that does not feel like a matchday bunker. Friendly to families and groups before kick-off.

Brunch before the game, decent wine after. Quietly one of the nicer rooms in SE19.

Late brunch before a 3pm

Table by the window with a glass of something cold. Eggs and a pint before the crowd builds. Walk down Anerley Hill towards Selhurst. First Palace songs as you reach the ground.

Heads up: book a table for weekend lunch, the Triangle locals get there first.

Stay light on the food, you still have a real walk down the hill to Selhurst Park.

What to order

On the drinks side, a cold lager from the craft taps. A glass of wine from the by-the-glass list. Coffee if you are pacing yourself.

From the kitchen, brunch eggs before an early kick-off. Sharing plates for a group. Sunday roast on a 2pm kick-off day.

Who it suits

Crystal Palace fans who want a civilised start. Groups mixing food and football. Couples on a matchday city break. Travelling fans who like a proper wine list. Anyone who wants the Triangle without the chaos.

The verdict

The Sparrowhawk is the grown-up start to a Palace day. Brunch, a glass of wine and a walk down to the ground.
