A historic Thames-side pub on stilts over the river, with one of the best pre-match views in London before a Millwall game at The Den.
The spot
The Angel has stood on the Bermondsey riverside for centuries. The back terrace, built out on stilts over the Thames, looks straight across to Tower Bridge and the City. Captain Cook is said to have planned his Pacific voyages from one of the back rooms. It is the most cinematic pint you can have before a Millwall game.
Best moment to visit
Heads up: the terrace fills fast on a sunny matchday. Arrive early or expect to drink standing.
