An intimate Spanish tapas restaurant on Stoke Newington Church Street with a Scottish twist, a short bus ride from the Emirates.
The spot
Escocesa is run by an Ayrshire-born owner (the name means Scottish woman in Spanish) and the kitchen pairs proper Spanish small plates with the best of Scottish seafood. Think Ullapool scallops and Lochinver langoustines next to pan con tomate, patatas bravas, jamon croquetas, tortilla, pulpo and crisp fried baby squid. You sit at the bar and watch the chefs work.
Best moment to visit
Heads up: it is a small room and weekend service fills it. Book the table before you book the kick-off.

Local tip 🇬🇧
Closest stations to the Emirates itself are Arsenal on the Piccadilly line and Finsbury Park on the Piccadilly and Victoria lines. From Escocesa, the easiest matchday move is a bus toward Finsbury Park and a short walk down to the ground.
Treat Escocesa as the meal either side of the game rather than a pre-match pint stop. Book early, eat well, then walk south to the Emirates.
